Strengthening Shar:Women leaders in non-timber forest product collection

Implemented: #CNVP – Connecting Natural Values and People and
Location of project implementation:National Park Shar Mountain specifically in rural areas within the municipality of Tetovo and Bogovinje.
Objectives:
-To encourage women and young people to start farming
-To advance the knowledge and skills of local farmers, with a special focus on young people and women, in the techniques of organic cultivation of non-timber forest products and medicinal and aromatic plants;
-To promote sustainable agricultural practices that protect biological diversity, conserve natural resources and mitigate environmental degradation on the one hand and protect the rights of farmers;
-To increase the participation of young people and women in decision-making processes related to agriculture and the management of natural resources.
Expected results of the project are:
-Increasing knowledge and adoption of organic farming practices among farmers;
-Biodiversity protection through sustainable use, and
-Raising public awareness on farming and protecting the environment.

The involvement of women in community organizations serves as a significant source of empowerment, allowing them to enhance their social connections, acquire fresh insights, garner assistance, tap into various services (including financial access), and advocate for necessary reforms.
Training of municipal councilors – 2022
The project provided expert support to the municipal councilors in performing their responsibilities in area of local public governance. It is designed to increase transparency and accountability in local government by strengthening municipal councils.
Women in business
Gender equality in the workplace involves more than equal pay. It also ensures access to the same treatment, opportunities, access to resources and ability to grow into leadership positions. By bringing more women into the workplace, there’s an opportunity to prioritize diversity and encourage male and female collaboration.
